Mangaluru: As a part of the birth anniversary of mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, the Department of Mathematics of Mangalore University celebrated National Mathematics Day.
5 teams from different colleges participated in the competitions and around 23 teams from various departments participated in the program. Mangalore University Department of Mathematics Chairman Dr Chandru Hegde was present.
Mangalore University Department of Physics Retired Professor KM Balakrishna explained the use of mathematics in various fields and its importance. SDM College, Ujire Mathematics Department Retired Professor Prakash Prabhu delivered a lecture on “Mathematics Fun and Music”. He explained the relationship between mathematics and music. As a part of the programme, various competitions were organized for inter-college and inter-department postgraduate students.
