National Conference on ‘Nurturing Talent for Business Excellence’ inaugurated at Roshni Nilaya

Mangaluru: A two-day UGC sponsored national conference on ‘Nurturing Talent for Business Excellence’ was inaugurated at School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru, on Tuesday, April 12.

Sebastian K V, Associate Professor, introduced the gathering to the subject of the conference. He said that Human Resource manager’s responsibility is to bring talent on board and nurture it.

“Each person has talent and a good leader should allow the talent to develop,” he said.

A.B.Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada, who was the Chief Guest for the occasion, said that every student can shape their future with discipline and hard work.

“Our institutions and students are capable of competing with any institution in the world,” he said.

Dr P S Yadapadithaya, Professor, Department of Commerce, Mangalore University delivered the key note address. He said that every organization recruits qualified, multi-skilled, committed, flexible, talented and performance-oriented employees.

“Management has become performance-management today. The HR of the organization should know how to convert smiling faces into performing faces. Talent management, domain knowledge, positive attitude, skill-mix, work habits and good values are the basic requisite of an employee,” he said.

“The landscape of HR has had a tremendous change in the past few years. HR managers have to coach and monitor the employee with good talents. The use of technology has become very extensive. They have to benchmark the performance as well,” he added.

He further said that eminent personalities are going to speak in the conference. It’s a perfect blend of speakers for two days, he said.

Dr. Philomena D Souza, Director, in her presidential address urged the students to identify their talents and nurture them.

“In the field of human resources, talent means workers. Nurturing the abilities and capabilities of the workers should be the objective of HR,” he said.

Asha Lobo, Assistant Professor, Aishwarya Nair, Secretary, HRM Forum, faculty members, students and other were present.

Mohanjith Marla, Convener, HRM Forum, delivered the vote of thanks.
