Mangaluru: ‘Akasha Arivu’, a one-day workshop on astronomy was held at St Agnes College (Autonomous). The programme was orgnaised in association with Pilikula Regional Science Centre, Mangalore University Physics Teachers Association, Ameture Astronomers Association Mangaluru and the Kannada Sangha and Science Forum of the college.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr B S Appaji Gowda, Joint Director of the Collegiate Education, Mangaluru. Dr K V Rao was the chief guest. Sr Dr M. Jeswina A.C. presided over the function.
The first session was taken by Dr Jayath H, Secretary of the Ameture Astronomers Association, while the second session was taken by Jagadish, Curator of the Pilikula Science Centre.
The afternoon first session was conducted by Rohith Rao and the next session was taken by Naveen Chandra.
Sr Dr Jeswina concluded the workshop by speaking a few words and handing out certificates to the participants.
Around 250 participants attended the workshop, including college and high school teachers, college and high school students and the general public.
Dr Sampoornanda Balkur, convenor of the workshop welcomed the gathering and Dr K Shailaja proposed the vote of thanks. Pinakini compered the programme.
