SJEC Organizes Annual Athletic Meet Go for Gold – 2024

Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), celebrated “Go for Gold-2024”, its Annual Athletic Meet at the College Grounds on Wednesday, 6 March 2024 at 9 AM organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports & Wellness group. Athletics coach Bhakshith Salian was the on the occasion who inaugurated the event by hoisting the flag. Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director of SJEC, Rev. Fr, Kenneth R Crasta, Assistant Director, Dr Rio D’Souza, Principal, Dr Purshottham Chippar,Vice Principal, Dr Ramananda H S, Dean Student Welfare, Florence Nishmitha, Chairperson of Sports & Wellness Group, Chitharanjan, Convener, Priya Miranda, Co-convenor and Veneesha V Rodrigues, Physical Education Director, were present on this occasion. A colorful and enthusiastic March Past by students was presented at the college ground after which the hoisting of the flag by the dignitaries took place. As a symbolic gesture, students who participated in National Level Sports events were handed over the burning torch by the guest post which the Chief Guest declared the meet open. Florence Nishmitha, introduced the chief guest and welcomed the gathering. Addressing the gathering Bhakshith Salian urged students to choose sports for fitness as it will be very helpful from many perspectives. He highlighted the importance of sports in an individual's career as well as opportunities available in the sports field. The inaugural was followed by a series of Athletic Events throughout the day that will witness the active participation of both students as well as staff in huge numbers. An oath was administered by the captain of the college hockey team, Alva Shwetha Shivprasad. Joel D’Mello and Rachana Crasta compered the event. The formal program concluded with the vote of thanks by Priya Miranda.
