Mangaluru: Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) Deralakatte is declared a tobacco-free education Institution (ToFEI) as per the guidelines of The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The official declaration certificate was handed over to Dr B.H. Sripathi Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University by Dr Kishore Kumar, District Health and Family Welfare Officer (DHO) and Dr Jagadish K District Surveillance Officer/Program Officer National Tobacco Control Cell, Dakshina Kannada. During the function, DHO & DSO appreciated the efforts of members of the Centre for substance abuse prevention Yenepoya (deemed to be University) and announced that this is the first Deemed-to-be University in Karnataka to get ToFEI certification. Dr Lakshmikanth Chatra, Principal, Dr Sham S Bhat, Dean Faculty of Dentistry, Yenepoya Dental College, Dr Maji Jose, Deputy Director and Dr Shruthi Nayak, convener Centre for substance abuse prevention, Pundalika Lakati, District Consultant, Shruthi Salian, Social Worker in District tobacco control Cell and Jyothi, Ulepadi, In-charge District Health Education Officer also attended the program
