Mangaluru: Children’s Day celebrations at the World Konkani Centre in Mangalore on 14-11-2023 were marked by a showcase of children’s art. Various programs catered to boys and girls of different ages from Jeppu Bhagini Samaj, Kankanadi Iswarananda Mahila Sevashram, Nalanda School, and Chinmaya School.
The festivities included health counselling for girls, colour painting for boys, singing, acting, storytelling, and colourful balloon decorating. Around one hundred to two hundred little girls enthusiastically celebrated Children’s Day at the World Konkani Center in Shaktinagar. As part of the celebration, a motivational video show was arranged for the children.
Nandagopal Shenai, Chairman and Senior Auditor of the Centre, inaugurated the children’s festival by garlanding Shenai’s effigy, lighting the lamp, and extending a warm welcome to everyone. Cultural activities suitable for children of different age groups were conducted by Usha Mohan Pai, Sumathi Pai, Vandana Kamath, Radhika Pai, Kudpi Vidya Shenai, and Panchmahal Pritam Kamat.
The festivities also featured an exciting magic show by Kudroli Ganesh, the distribution of free books to students, and arrangements for tasty breakfast and dinner, ensuring that all the little ones thoroughly enjoyed Children’s Day.
Gilbert D’Souza, Vice President of the World Konkani Center, Treasurer B. R Bhat, and trustees Kasturi Mohan Pai, William D’Souza, Ramesh D Nayak, Shakuntala R Kini, Melvin Rodrigues, and members of the Basti Madhav Shenai family actively participated in the event. Dr B Devdas Pai concluded the program with a vote of thanks.
