In a shocking incident in Patharai, Tamil Nadu, 80-year-old Kannammal, who lived alone, was found murdered at her residence on Sunday afternoon. Her gold earring and ring were missing, prompting police to treat it as a case of robbery and homicide.
Acting swiftly, police reviewed CCTV footage in the area and identified the suspect as D. Sankar (29), a former tenant who had stayed at Kannammal’s house for six months. Authorities say he allegedly killed her to steal her jewellery.
Thanks to the rapid investigation, Sankar was apprehended within two hours, and the stolen ornaments were recovered from him. He will be produced before a magistrate and is expected to be remanded following further interrogation.
