A serious crime occurred on a highway in Maharashtra’s Pune district when two unidentified men attacked passengers travelling in a car early Tuesday morning.
According to police, around 4:15 am near Bhigwan in Daund, a vehicle carrying seven people — including an elderly driver, women, and teenagers — stopped near a roadside tea stall as the driver needed a break.
While the car was parked, two men on a motorcycle approached, threatened the occupants with weapons, and forcibly robbed three women of their gold jewellery. They also took a minor girl out of the car.
After committing the offences, the suspects escaped on their bike. The passengers, shaken by the incident, alerted local police as soon as possible.
A 73-year-old tea stall owner reportedly witnessed the attack but could not provide detailed information due to age-related limitations.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Pune (Rural) Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill stated that eight teams have been formed to locate and apprehend the accused. An investigation is underway to trace the suspects.
