New Delhi: Ahead of India’s third phase of vaccination drive on May 1, the Centre on Saturday, April 24 issued guidelines for states and Union territories on the “effective implementation of the New Vaccination Strategy”.

According to the government statement, a high-level meeting was chaired by Union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan and Dr RS Sharma, chairperson of the empowered group on technology and data management to combat Covid-19, to direct the states and Union territories and review their proposals to scale up the current hospital and clinical care infrastructure.

All adults will become eligible for a Covid-19 vaccine from May 1. The decision makes India one of the first countries to allow all adults to seek a vaccine.
