New Delhi: According to airport officials, adverse weather conditions in Delhi have forced the diversion of 15 flights from the national capital. Among these diversions, nine flights were rerouted to Jaipur, two to Amritsar, two to Lucknow, one to Mumbai, and one to Chandigarh.
In a sudden turn of weather events on Tuesday evening, rain swept across various parts of Delhi, offering some relief to commuters who have been enduring April’s intense heat.
Earlier predictions by the India Meteorological Department indicated that Delhi’s temperatures would hover around 38 degrees Celsius for the next 2-3 days, with a possibility of light rain on Monday. Dr. Naresh Kumar, a senior scientist at IMD, mentioned to ANI that temperatures in Eastern India could soar to 44 degrees Celsius in the upcoming 4-5 days, while indicating ongoing heatwave conditions in East India, which are expected to persist in some states for the next 4-5 days.
