New Delhi: The Supreme Court came down heavily on yoga guru Ramdev on Tuesday and that he was “not so innocent,” while hearing the contempt case against Patanjali Ayurved in case with the misleading advertisements of the company’s medicinal products.

The supreme court criticized him for his “irresponsible behaviour”. The bench comprising comprising Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Hima Kohli gave one-week’s time to both Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna to aplogise publicly and next hearing will be on April 23.

Ramdev told the court that they offered an unconditional apology for the mistakes that they made.  He also said that what they did at that time was not correct and will be careful in the future.

Responding to Ramdev’s statement about conducting tests, the bench criticized their behavior as irresponsible and expressed skepticism about the sincerity of their apology. Justice Amanullah said that the apology did not seem genuine, indicating that their actions were deliberate and wilful violations of the court’s orders.

The Supreme Court had previously dismissed Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna’s unconditional apology on April 10, stating that their actions constituted repeated and deliberate violations. The petition against Patanjali Ayurved was filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA).
