In a heartening development, the Delhi Police successfully reunited a two-month-old child, found abandoned near the Shakur Basti Railway Station, with his family members. Officials revealed that the infant’s parents had lost him while traveling from Gwalior to their home in Agra via Delhi.
Following the necessary legal procedures, the infant was returned to his family, stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) K P S Malhotra. The child was discovered abandoned on the railway tracks on April 9, prompting the initiation of an investigation under Section 317, pertaining to the abandonment of a child under 12 years.
Despite the absence of CCTV coverage in the area where the child was found, authorities diligently pursued the case. The investigation involved sharing the infant’s details across various police departments and child centers nationwide.
The breakthrough came when Anil Kumar Rajavat from Agra recognized the infant’s photographs circulating on a WhatsApp group. Mr. Rajavat confirmed his parenthood upon meeting the child in Delhi on April 13, recounting how the child had become separated from them in the bustling environment of a railway station.
Following the completion of legal formalities, the Delhi Police joyfully handed the infant back to his relieved parents. This heartwarming incident underscores the importance of collaborative efforts and community engagement in ensuring the welfare and safety of vulnerable individuals.
