New Delhi: Congress MP Pratibha Singh has voiced criticism of her party’s performance, acknowledging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been more effective in its constituency work. Speaking to the news agency ANI, Singh highlighted the need for Congress to address internal issues and strengthen its organization to face upcoming challenges.

Singh emphasized the importance of feedback from constituents, indicating that interactions with local people revealed a perception of the BJP’s superior performance compared to the Congress. She urged Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to prioritize organizational strengthening to overcome existing difficulties.

The statement from Pratibha Singh comes amidst ongoing tensions within the Himachal Pradesh Congress, notably highlighted by her son, state PWD minister Vikramaditya Singh’s recent offer to resign from the Sukhu Cabinet. While sources indicated a withdrawal of the resignation, underlying tensions persist.

In response to the disqualification of six Congress MLAs under the anti-defection law, Pratibha Singh acknowledged their dissatisfaction, citing a lack of communication and resolution. She suggested that proactive engagement could have prevented the situation, indicating a need for internal reconciliation within the party.

The disqualifications have reduced the effective strength of the House, underscoring the impact of internal dissent on the Congress party’s legislative presence. Despite these challenges, the Congress leadership has initiated efforts to address internal divisions through the establishment of a coordination committee, albeit with reservations from Pratibha Singh and Vikramaditya Singh.
