The Delhi High Court is set to deliver its verdict on the plea by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) related to the Delhi excise policy case today.
Kejriwal had questioned the timing of his arrest citing Lok Sabha election. And termed “political conspiracy.” While the probe agency remains stanch in its intention to arrest the Aam Aadmi Party supremo.
In the previous hearing on April 3, Kejriwal raised concerns about the timing of his arrest, particularly in the wake of upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He argued that his arrest violated the fundamental structure of the Constitution. The ED contended in court that the law applies uniformly, identifying Kejriwal as the kingpin in the Delhi excise policy case.
Despite the ED’s claims of establishing a financial trail linking the Chief Minister to the case, Kejriwal maintains his innocence, citing a lack of concrete evidence implicating him in the alleged misconduct. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma is scheduled to deliver the verdict on Kejriwal’s petition at 2:30 pm today, said sources.
