New Delhi: Manish Sisodia, the former deputy chief minister of Delhi who has been imprisoned for more than a year due to the liquor policy case, is permitted to see his sick wife and physicians once a week. The AAP leader received the relief on Monday from Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi.
It was during Diwali last November that he was last granted custody parole to see his ailing wife.
The former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister has asked the court to grant him custody parole so he can see his wife once a week. On February 2, the Enforcement Directorate received a notice from Special Judge MK Nagpal of Rouse Avenue Court regarding the application.
While issuing notice, the court noted that the first application is for seeking his regular bail (second bail application), and the second is for seeking custody parole to meet his ailing wife for two days weekly.
Manish Sisodia was arrested and charge-sheeted in Delhi Excise policy cases of ED and CBI.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is in custody in connection with his alleged role in the Delhi Liquor scam.
On October 30, the Indian Supreme Court denied Manish Sisodia’s request for bail. On May 30 of last year, both the trial court and the High Court denied his prior bail requests.
On November 10, 2023, on Diwali, he was allowed to see his ailing wife thanks to custody parole.
On February 26, Manish Sisodia was taken into custody by the CBI. He was detained by ED on March 9. According to the ED, Manish Sisodia’s actions are alleged to have generated approximately ₹ 622 crore in proceeds of crime.
