New Delhi : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched a significant operation on Wednesday, searching 24 locations across many states and busting a large module of operators for making thousands of bogus calls, including ones to foreign nationals in the US, including Sushil Sachdeva and his accomplices. Also, the central agency found cash worth Rs 2.2 crore.
An informant close to the CBI told IANS, “The CBI conducted searches at 24 sites in multiple states and busted a large network of operators, who were placing thousands of calls to foreign nationals.”
The source said that they were making fraudulent calls and impersonating other entities, coercing victims to make payments in the guise of fines, fees and penalties.
The source added that searches yielded crucial evidence along with cash to the tune of Rs 2.2 crore, foreign currency, crypto accounts and property documents.
The source said that this module was busted by the CBI in one of its ongoing cases under Operation Chakra 1.
