New Delhi: As per the latest update from Union Health Ministry, the total number of COVID-19 cases reached 8,356 on Sunday. The death toll has reached 273.
While 909 new cases have been detected over the last 24 hours, 34 new deaths have been reported since Saturday evening, the ministry said adding that as many as 15,700 samples are being tested on an average everyday.
Maharashtra, which has already extended the lockdown till April 30 is one of the worst affected state with 1,895 cases and 127 deaths. Central Mumbai’s Dharavi – Asia’s biggest slum, continued to be a problem area with 15 new cases with the total touching 43.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Jaipur on Sunday crossed the 300-mark and touched 336 as Rajasthan recorded 96 new positive cases in the state, including 36 in Jaipur. With this the total tally in Rajasthan now has gone up to 796.
Tonk and Banswara have emerged as major hotspots in the last few days.
Delhi has reported 1,069 cases while Tamil Nadu has 969 Coronavirus positive cases.
Number of people testing positive for the virus is on the rise in Madhya Pradesh (532 cases), Telangana (504 cases), and Uttar Pradesh (452 cases).
