Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir: In a significant operation conducted under police protection, Jammu and Kashmir revenue authorities carried out the demolition of illegal structures located on government land, specifically a Dar-ul-uloom, in the Pulwama district of south Kashmir. This action came as a result of recommendations from the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The incident leading to this demolition occurred during the intervening night of March 11th and 12th, 2022, when the police and army conducted an operation in a Dar-ul-Uloom situated at Chewa Kalan in Pulwama. During this operation, local terrorist Aquib Mushtaq, a resident of Kareemabad, and a foreign terrorist were both neutralized by the security forces.
Subsequently, the case, registered as FIR No 50/2022, was taken over for investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). NIA’s investigation led to the arrest of the administrators of the Dar-ul-uloom, identified as Naseer Molvi, a resident of Chewa Kalan, and his associate Imtiyaz. Both individuals remain in custody as the investigation continues.
Police authorities confirmed that the Dar-ul-uloom consisted of three single-story rooms that were constructed on government land. These structures had been rendered obsolete since the encounter involving the terrorists.
As a result of the NIA’s recommendations and in line with legal proceedings, the revenue authorities, with police protection, initiated the demolition of these illegal structures on government land, marking a significant step in upholding the rule of law in the region.
