Seraikela: In the Seraikela-Kharswan district of Jharkhand, a 34-year-old man is accused of killing his wife by striking her with a hammer, according to police on Tuesday.
The husband, Rajesh Kumar, was taken into custody and the blood-stained hammer was found in his Bantanagar home in the vicinity of the RIT police station, according to reports.
According to police, Rajesh and his 31-year-old wife Priyanka had been fighting for the past few days over money that she insisted on having for their children’s school fees and jewelry.
Amid one such fight between the two on Sunday, Rajesh allegedly pushed his wife, picked a hammer that was lying nearby and hit her on the head in a fit of rage, they said.
She died instantly, they added.
Rajesh, who is originally from Nawada in Bihar, broke down and admitted to killing his wife during questioning, according to the police.
They claimed that after he appeared in court on a case filed under IPC section 302 (murder), he was placed in judicial custody.
