Rewa, Madhya Pradesh: A six-year-old boy fell into an open borewell in an agricultural field with harvested wheat crops in the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh on Friday.
The boy, Mayur, fell into the borewell while playing, said Anil Sonkar, Additional Superintendent of Police in Rewa. Initially, other boys who were present at the spot tried to rescue him. When they could not, they informed Mayur’s parents, who then informed the police. A rescue team from SDRF launched an operation to bring him out. The defunct borewell is 6 cm in diameter, he said.
Two earthmovers have been deployed to rescue the trapped boy, and a parallel pit is being dug to rescue him. He also informed that an SDRF team from Varanasi will also reach the spot shortly.
The officer said that the rescue team is trying to identify the exact location of the boy and expressed confidence that he would be rescued very soon.
