A 40-year-old man died after allegedly receiving treatment from an unqualified practitioner in Chatra district, prompting police action and renewed concerns over illegal medical practices.

Treatment turns fatal

The deceased, identified as Vinod Singh from Majhgaon, had visited a small private clinic at Dantar on Monday after developing a fever. According to family members, the practitioner, Shiv Shankar Sharma alias Thakurji, administered a series of injections.

Soon after, Singh’s condition deteriorated rapidly and he lost consciousness.

Family alleges negligence

Relatives claimed that instead of providing proper care, the accused advised them to take Singh to Gaya for further treatment. However, he died shortly thereafter.

Family members have alleged that incorrect treatment and negligence led to his death and have demanded strict action against the accused.

Accused absconding, clinic sealed

Following the incident, the accused reportedly shut his clinic and went into hiding. Police have registered a case and sealed the facility.

Officials confirmed that raids are underway to trace and arrest the accused. Further investigation is in progress.

Illegal clinics under scrutiny

Local residents have raised concerns about the prevalence of unqualified practitioners in the area, alleging that such clinics continue to operate despite repeated complaints.

Health authorities acknowledged the challenge of tracking illegal medical practices, stating that action is taken when complaints are formally reported.

Call for public awareness

Medical officials have urged people to seek treatment only from qualified professionals and report suspicious clinics. The incident follows a similar recent case in Jharkhand, where a young woman reportedly died after a botched procedure by an unlicensed practitioner.

The case has once again highlighted the risks posed by quackery and the urgent need for stronger enforcement and public awareness.
