In a chilling incident coinciding with Guru Purnima—a day meant to honour teachers—a school principal in Haryana’s Hisar district was stabbed to death by two Class 12 students after he asked them to maintain discipline.
Jagbir Singh, 50, principal of Kartar Memorial Senior Secondary School in Bas Badshahpur village, was attacked around 10:30 am on campus. According to police, Mr Singh had reprimanded the teenagers for ignoring repeated warnings to get haircuts and follow the school’s dress code. Enraged by the admonition, the students pulled out a folding knife and stabbed him multiple times. He collapsed from severe injuries and died on the spot, sparking panic among staff and students.
CCTV footage showed the accused fleeing after the assault, with one of them discarding the knife inside the premises. Other students and teachers were seen rushing the wounded principal to a vehicle in an attempt to save him.
Amit Yashvardhan, Superintendent of Police for Hansi, confirmed that the attackers are minors and remain at large. Police teams are examining surveillance recordings and collecting eyewitness accounts. Officials stated that the exact sequence of events will be clearer after the postmortem and thorough investigation.
The brutal killing has left the community stunned and has raised urgent questions about school safety and rising aggression among youth.
