Students protest after teacher’s car runs over classmate’s leg; school accused of cover-up
MALAPPURAM: Students of MSP School staged a spontaneous protest on campus after a class 10 student, Mirsha, sustained serious leg fractures when a teacher’s car allegedly ran over her leg. The incident occurred last Friday but has sparked intense outrage due to delayed medical attention and alleged attempts by the school to suppress the truth.
According to classmates, teacher Begum was driving the vehicle that hit Mirsha while students were gathered on the ground. Despite visible injuries, the school delayed taking her to the hospital, first laying her on a bench before moving her to a cooperative hospital — where Begum’s brother reportedly works as a doctor.
Shockingly, the school allegedly misled doctors, claiming a wall had fallen on the student. Students said they were barred from entering the hospital under a suspicious claim that uniformed students weren’t allowed.
After Mirsha’s parents intervened, she was transferred to another hospital, where doctors confirmed three fractures in her leg and inserted a stent. The protest intensified after allegations emerged that the school pressured the student to stay silent and that the teacher agreed to compensate but demanded reimbursement from the insurance payout.
The school faces serious backlash for what students and parents are calling a blatant attempt to evade accountability.
