On the occasion of Ram Navami on Wednesday, April 17, the Ayodhya Temple experienced a unique phenomenon where the idol of Lord Ram Lalla was adorned with the illumination of ‘Surya Tilak’ (Sun’s rays). This extraordinary display was made possible through a sophisticated mechanism involving mirrors and lenses, which was tested by scientists the day before.

Significantly, this marked the first Ram Navami celebration following the consecration of the Ram idol at the Ayodhya temple, a momentous event inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22.

As per a senior scientist from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) in Roorkee, the planned size of the tilak was 58 mm, with an approximate duration of three to three-and-a-half minutes, including two minutes of full illumination.

Anil Mishra, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, mentioned earlier that devotees would be permitted inside the Ram temple during the Surya Tilak. Additionally, arrangements were made for the public to witness the celebrations via approximately 100 LED screens provided by the temple trust and 50 by the government.

This celebration of Ram Navami at the Ram Mandir included offerings of 56 types of bhog, prasad, and panjiri, marking the second grand celebration at the Ram Janmabhoomi since the elaborate ceremony of pran pratishtha.

Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, expressed that all arrangements for the celebration were meticulously managed by the Trust, ensuring a festive atmosphere filled with enthusiasm.

Further details revealed that the idol of Lord Ram was adorned in yellow attire and bathed with Panchamrit, followed by the preparation of various offerings.

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra shared images of priests performing Divya Abhisheka and the Divya Shringar of Lord Rama on the official social media handle.

Prior to this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings for the festival via his official social media account, reflecting on the significance of the occasion and the fulfillment of witnessing the Pran-Pratishtha in Ayodhya.

On the morning of Ram Navami, a large number of devotees gathered at Ram Mandir, engaging in acts of faith and celebration. The temple’s darshan commenced at 3:30 am, with the festivities broadcasted across the city on approximately 100 LED screens and the trust’s social media platforms.
