Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Cabinet has approved the Uniform Civil Code’s final draft, clearing the way for its introduction in the state Assembly’s special four-day session that starts on Monday.
At a meeting on Sunday at Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s official residence, the Cabinet approved the UCC draft.
A five-member panel led by retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai delivered the final draft of the UCC, which spans seven forty0-page volumes, to Dhami on Friday.
The special session of the Assembly has been convened especially to pass the legislation on the UCC. The approval by the state cabinet was necessary for its introduction in the House.
