Chennai: Superstar Rajnikanth, who had earlier announced his political debut has now reconsidered his decision. The actor, on Tuesday issued a statement announcing that he will not enter politics.

Rajnikanth was admitted to hospital on Friday following health complications and on being discharged from the hospital, Rajnikanth released a statement, which read: “With extreme sadness I say that I can’t enter politics. I alone know the pain I went through while announcing this decision. Without entering electoral politics, I will serve the people. This decision of mine will disappoint my fans and people but please forgive me.”

The 70-year-old actor, who has been advised complete bed rest for one week, said that he takes the recent development over his health condition as a warning from God and hence will not go ahead with his plans to take the political plunge for the 2021 Tamil Nadu election.

In a long statement, Rajinikanth said that he doesn’t want to start something and leave it halfway through. He stated that his health doesn’t permit him to enter politics at this juncture and hence he wants to refrain from starting the party.

Rajinikanth was due to announce his political party on December 31 and the launch was slated for January keeping in mind the polls in Tamil Nadu to be held five months from now. He had promised ‘wonders’ in the upcoming polls.

He had started Rajini Makkal Mandram two years ago.
