Chaos erupted at the Bilaspur family court on July 10 when advocate Leena Agrahari physically assaulted her client, Suman Thakur, and her family—an incident that has now gone viral and drawn sharp public criticism.

Suman had approached the court over a family dispute with her husband, accompanied by her elderly mother Savitri Devi, a recent heart surgery patient, and brother Mukund Thakur. According to Suman, lawyer Leena Agrahari had accepted payment but later refused to continue with the case. When questioned, Agrahari allegedly turned violent.

In shocking footage widely circulated online, Agrahari is seen dragging Suman by her hair, throwing her to the ground, and assaulting her in full public view. When Savitri Devi tried to intervene, she too was shoved violently to the ground.

Despite the presence of police officers, including female personnel, no immediate action was taken. Instead, other lawyers reportedly backed Agrahari and accused the family of misconduct.

Suman’s brother Mukund filmed the incident, during which Agrahari allegedly tried to snatch his phone and grabbed him by the shirt. Civil Lines Police Station in-charge SR Sahu later confirmed a “scuffle” had occurred but claimed both parties had reached a mutual settlement.

This isn’t the first such incident in Bilaspur’s courts. Just five days prior, another lawyer, Kunti Pawar, was accused of attacking a client in a separate case, raising questions about growing instances of violence in court premises.
