Bagalakote: A single-judge bench of the Dharawad High Court on December 17 delivered a landmark and historic judgment in the case of violation of whip of three women members of the Municipality, who had fought a two-year legal battle by getting a stay order, even though their membership was cancelled twice by the Bagalakote Deputy Commissioner for allegedly violating the whip in the President and Vice-President election.

On November 9, 2020, an incident in which Teradal MLA Siddu Savadi dragged women members during the President, Vice-President election of the local Municipality had caught nation wide attention.

With this, three members of Mahalingapura Municipality including Savita Hurakkadli, Chandni Nayak, Godavari Bata and others have managed to retain the recognition of the membership through a legal battle, even though they have been disqualified from membership twice by the Bagalakote Deputy Commissioner on charges of violating the whip.
