Belagavi: As many as 14 people, who were on a hunger strike of transport employees at Bastawade Village near Suvarna Vidhana Soudha urging fulfilment of various demands, were forcibly taken away by the Police on Sunday December 25 and treated at KIMS Hospital in Hubballi.

The hunger strike organised by the Transport Employees’ Like-Minded Forum entered the seventh day on Sunday December 25 and the Police have asked them to call off the strike. But they were adamant that they would not move from there till the demands were met.

The Police then forcibly took all of them and admitted them to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi for treatment. All the transport employees who refused to get up from the protest site were taken to Hubballi by the police in a bus. Transport employees refused to seek treatment at the Hospital. There was also a verbal spat with the Police on the occasion.
