Belagavi: An incident that has stirred societal embarrassment unfolded in Belagavi, the accused who assaulted and publicly stripped a woman in Vantamuri village incident were greeted upon their release from Hindalaga Jail with garlands and sweets by their supporters.
The middle-aged woman was assaulted last year in the month of December, that incident has sparked outrage, the police then arrested 13 accused in connection with the incident.
Thirteen individuals were arrested in connection with the case, and after being granted conditional bail by the court, they were released from jail. Although the police denied permission for a procession, the supporters celebrated the occassion by bursting crackers, garlanding the accused and distributing sweets. Videos of the celebration, showcasing the release of those accused of such a heinous crime, have since gone viral on social media.
