Vijayapura: Though the newly elected Corporators are yet to take charge, they have already started touring their respective wards and collecting grievances to address them.

The majority of the Corporators are meeting people and the local leaders of their wards to find out what the civic issues they are facing majorly so that they could be taken up on priority to address after taking charge.

The majority of the Corporators are saying that most of the people are complaining of bad roads and drainage systems. They said that the people want good roads and better drainage facilities in their areas from the newly elected Corporators.

“We have been visiting all the areas of our ward after getting elected. People are coming forward to raise their complaints. Since they had no Corporators for the last nine years, the development in the localities has not taken place for a long time. Now, as the Corporators are visiting, the people are coming up with loads of civic issues which is going to be a major challenge for us to address,” said Rizwanabanu Kaisar Inamdar, the Corporator of Ward 28.

She said that she has already made a list of works to be taken up for the welfare of the people of her ward.

Similarly, Vimala Rafiq Kane has also held meetings with the local people and collected their grievances to be addressed.

“When I was campaigning for the election, people of my ward number 24 already had given me a list of works to be taken up if I win. Therefore, I am aware of most of the issues in my ward. I have already talked to the officials of City Corporators about them. The works would be taken up on a priority basis. Some of the works of drainage were already going on, so I have asked the officials to expedite the work and complete it soon,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Government is yet to issue a notification to hold the election for the post of Mayor and Deputy Mayor to have an official body at the City Corporation. This would allow the Corporators to hold the meeting and discuss the issues.
