Vijayapura: Describing the Congress as the party which has the agenda of dividing the nation, BJP National President, J. P. Nadda has said that even during the Bharat Jodo Yatra of the Congress, the party leader, Rahul Gandhi walked along with the people who have been working to divide the nation.

Addressing a large public gathering at Sindgi town as part of Vijay Sankalpa Yatra of the party on Saturday January 21, Nadda said that while the Congress is working for ‘Vinash’ (destruction) of India, the BJP has been striving for Vikas (development) of the nation.

“Transparency, development, good governance and pro-people government mean BJP and corruption, commission and nepotism mean the Congress. Therefore, it is the time for the people to give full rest to the Congress and vote the BJP to power for a pro-people and development-oriented government,” he said.

Claiming that the Congress has a history of creating social disharmony and anarchy in the country, Nadda said that it was the Congress which was responsible for the division of India. He claimed that no party but the BJP can protest and preserve the rich culture, heritage and customs of India and Karnataka.

“During every visit to Karnataka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi makes sure to remember and pay respect to the writers, culture and heritage of Karnataka. No other Prime Minister has done so in the past, that is the difference between Modi and other Prime Ministers,” he said.

Claiming that India is marching ahead on the economic front during the Modi government, Nadda said that India has set new records in online payments, laying fibre optic cable, bringing poverty to less than one per cent and increasing the export of electronic goods.

During the time of the Congress government, 92 per cent of mobile phones were imported, but India is manufacturing 97 per cent of mobile phones today during the BJP rule. “This one example is enough to show how the Modi government is making India self-reliant,” he said.

He appealed to the people of the State to vote for the BJP in the coming assembly polls in Karnataka to provide a development-oriented government.

Before arriving at Sindgi Town, he visited the Gyanayogashram of the Late Siddeshewara Seer in the City to pay homage to the departed soul.

He also launched a membership drive in one of the wards of the Nagathan Assembly segment in the City.

Former Chief Minister, B. S. Yediyurappa, Higher Education Minister Dr. Ashwath Narayan, MP Ramesh Jigajinagi, MLAs, MLCs and a host of party leaders were present.
