Bengaluru: Abused by fiance, woman jumps off 7th floor

Bengaluru: A law student allegedly resorted to suicide by jumping off the seventh floor of a college in V. V. Puram Police limits on Monday December 19 after she was allegedly abused by her fiance for not coming out to meet him.

The deceased has been identified as Veena (23), a resident of Banashankari. The incident took place around 11.00 am on Monday December 19 at the engineering college building in V. V. Puram. The body has been handed over to the family for postmortem.

Police said that the investigation was on. Veena, a first-year LLB student at a law college on the engineering college premises, returned to the college as usual on Monday morning. At around 11.00 am, she went to the 7th floor of the college and suddenly jumped down. Students and lecturers rushed Veena to a nearby hospital after she was found lying in a pool of blood. However, she suffered serious head injuries and died on the way to the hospital, police said.

Veena got engaged to Chandrasekhar, an employee of a private company, a month ago. Chandrashekhar used to invite Veena to come out for a walk during the holidays. But she was not comfortable, it is learnt.
