Bengaluru: CM pays tribute to M Gandhi on 153rd birth anniversary

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai paid tribute to the Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding both the statue and the portrait of Gandhi in front of Vidhana Soudha-Vikasa Soudha on the 153rd anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday.

Later he took part in the Gandhi Jayanti celebration hosted by the Karnataka Gandhi Memorial Trust and Information Department and conferred the Mahatma Gandhi Seva Awards.

Following this, he also paid homage to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 118th birth anniversary by garlanding the statue in front of Vidhana Soudha.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Water Resources Govind M. Karjol, the Minister of Urban Development M. T. B. Nagaraj, the Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma, and others.

He flagged off the vintage car rally from Vidhana Soudha as part of the 68th Wildlife Week and Walkathon to create awareness of the protection of wildlife.

Bommai also flagged off the Kittur Rani Chennama Jyothi Yatra from Ravindra Kalakshetra as part of the Kittur Festival.
