Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai gave officials directions to expand “GramaOne,” a single-point assistance centre for all citizen-centric activities at the village level.

Bommai instructed officials to identify the services that may be provided at GramaOne centres, discuss them with the departments involved, and then take necessary actions. The Chief Minister presided over a review meeting of the Department of e-Governance here.

The specialised services must be restricted to the districts concerned and provided the same through the GramaOne Centres. Opportunities could be created to offer micro banking, LPG booking and other services at the Centres,” Bommai was quoted as saying by his office in a release.

Presently, 7,274 centres throughout all districts are functional. The number of transactions grew from 66,520 in January 2022 to 10,36,542 in June, officials informed the Chief Minister.

Bommai urged that officials experiment with providing Atal JanaSnehi Kendra services in at least a few GramaOne centres, where they are currently running at the Hobli level.

In addition, the press release stated that private companies are starting data centres and that a regulation must be developed to use their services.

He said that there was ample chance to use the information provided by the Karnataka Geographic Information System (K-GIS) and to make the right decision and that departments must utilise this facility. Additionally, he also instructed officials to start making plans to launch a drone school under the PM Gati Shakti scheme for Rs. 25 Crore.
