Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) took a complete break from the demolition drive on Saturday September 17 after carrying it out for the past 6 days and announced that its engineers and officials from the Revenue Department are conducting a survey to determine the extent of encroachments.
According to BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath, the BBMP has demolished around 90 encroachments. He has now directed the Chief Engineers of the concerned zones to file caveats because some property owners have approached the court. “We will go on with the drive as soon as we receive the report from Deputy commissioner for Bengaluru Urban,” he said.
Girinath visited the area and claimed there are no encroachments after receiving complaints from Union Minister Shoba Karandlaje and local residents of RMV 2nd Stage and Soundarya Park that the task of clearing the drains has been delaying for the last four months. He noted that since they are downstream, the areas flood.
