Bengaluru: Land surveyor held for taking Rs 5K bribe

Bengaluru: A land surveyor was caught on Monday October 31 accepting an Rs. 5,000 bribe, informed Lokayukta police.

According to sources, Ashok M. B. was allegedly caught taking a bribe from a landowner in the parking area of the Taluk office in Yelahanka, North Bengaluru.
He has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

On August 17, Chandrashekar B. M. submitted an online application for an 11E Sketch mutation on land he owns in the northeastern Bengaluru village of Bagalur, which is around 17.5 guntas of land. He wanted to give his daughter about two guntas of land.

According to sources, the work was assigned to Ashok, a licensed land surveyor. He spoke with Chandrashekar over the phone, but the latter insisted on a face-to-face meeting. After the meeting, Ashok asked for Rs. 20,000 for the procedure. The Lokayukta Police received a complaint from Chandrashekar, who refused to pay the bribe.

Chandrashekar approached Ashok in the parking lot and gave him Rs. 5,000 on the directions of the Lokayukta Police. Ashok was caught in the act by the Lokayukta police.
