Bengaluru: ‘Over 5.8 lakh UDID cards distributed in State’

Bengaluru: State Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar on Tuesday November 22 said that the State has reached a major milestone by issuing 5.86 lakh Unique Disability Identification (UDID) cards.

He reviewed the distribution of UDID cards, which are given to specially-abled people so they can avail of several benefits given by the government. According to a statement from the Minister’s office, Karnataka has done well with the distribution of UDID cards in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Ramanagara district has the highest number of cards distributed.

He further said that Chikkamagaluru is in the second position, followed by Bagalakote, Haveri, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi and Mandya districts.

”People with disabilities must register their name on the UDID portal. Getting a UDID card is easy once you log in. You can avail many facilities from the government through this,” he stated.

The Minister also said, “We will be able to track beneficiary facilities at all implementation levels, including block and district, state, and national levels, because of UDID cards. Every disabled person will get a UDID card from the government, which may be used to get several benefits in all sectors.”

“Special emphasis has been given to provide facilities to improve the quality of life of differently-abled,” he added.
