Bengaluru: The Assembly on Wednesday February 22 passed a bill to increase the working hours from 9 to 12 hours.

The Factories (Karnataka Amendment) Bill, 2023 provides for an increase in the working hours from the existing 9 to 12 hours, including break intervals on any day subject to a maximum of 48 hours in a week.

The Bill explains that any group or class of factories can extend the total working hours of the worker up to 6 hours without a break to facilitate the increase in the maximum daily working hours.
