Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a moving bus in broad daylight on Thursday, November 5, at Sulibele in Hosakote in Bengaluru.

The victim works at a nursing home in the city and had boarded the bus yesterday to go to work.

The girl was reportedly alone in the bus at the time of the sexual assault. The driver is said to have asked the cleaner to take over the wheel and allegedly raped her. They locked up the doors and windows before she was being raped. Later, she was dumped near Lakkondanahalli and the accused escaped. The bus belongs to a private company.

The incident came to light after the hospital staff lodged an official complaint. The victim went to a private hospital and narrated the incident to the doctors who later filed a complaint.

The accused driver Ravi (26) and cleaner Manjunath (23) have been nabbed by the police. The duo has been booked under IPC section 376.

Reacting to the incident, Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara, said, “Proper legal action will be taken against the accused. We will not tolerate rape cases in the state.”
