Bengaluru: Revenue Minister R Ashoka on Monday January 17 said that the Mekedatu padayatra by Congress has only helped spread Covid while disrupting the implementation of Mekedatu project.

Stating that Tamilnadu could use the agitation against State and work towards stalling it, Minister said that for the past two decades we strived to convince people that Mekedatu project in Ramanagara District was restricted to drinking and power generation purposes. This has now been falsely negated by Congress, he said.

Further, he said that Congress has given a setback to the project by publicising it as an irrigation project which will help farmers too. This could be used against the State by the Tamil Nadu government, he observed.
