Bengaluru: Ramakrishnaiah, a 52-year-old head constable has been suspended on charges of taking bribe from private travel agencies on Friday.
The head constable belonged to the City Market traffic police station.
S Girish, DCP, Traffic West, speaking to sources said that the head constable was caught red-handed in an internal sting operation by police officers. Earlier, they had received several complaints about a police officer involved in taking bribe from owners of travel agencies.
The head constable had allegedly threatened the owners of the travel agencies saying they were violating traffic rules.
Ramakrishnaiah had also told the owners that he had to share the bribe with senior police officers.
