Bengaluru: Medical services in government hospitals across the state are likely to be thrown out of gear today since doctors have called for a statewide protest. They protesting the assault of one of the on-duty doctors at Minto Eye Hospital in Bengaluru.

As a part of the protest, the doctors are holding marches and staging dharnas in all major towns and district headquarters.

Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) Dr. K Ashwathanarayana’s last-minute effort to convince the agitating doctors failed. The DCM assured industrial force protection, mandatory CCTV cameras in all hospitals, beside Rs.3 lakhs for those patients who lost their vision in the Minto hospital operation. But the doctors have decided to continue with the strikes.
