Bengaluru: Allegations against Dr Shankar Gowda, former assistant registrar of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) have been proved for his involvement in the fake MBBS degree racket. He was arrested by CCB police recently.
An investigating officer told sources that another complaint has been registered against the accused for issuing fake certificates at Itkal police station in Bagalkot district.
According to a complaint copy available with sources, Dr Pavan Patil, pediatrician at Maheshwari Hospital, Itkal, had filed a case against one Vishwas Patil alias Venkanna Patil. In the complaint, Pavan said Vishwas had approached him for a job and produced his MBBS certificates and MD in pediatrics. But on enquiring, they learnt that the certificates were fake and filed a case.
The complaint stated that Vishwas got certificates from Gowda. The MBBS certificates were issued in the name of MR Medical College, Kalaburagi, and MD in Adichunchanagiri Medical College, Mandya. Vishwas had claimed that he had registered for distance education programmes through the Karnataka State Open University.
