In a chilling case of targeted violence, a Bengaluru-based businessman and his son were abducted and murdered in Andhra Pradesh’s Palnadu district on Tuesday, in what police describe as a premeditated attack.

Veeraswamy Reddy and his 22-year-old son Prashanth Reddy, an active BJP Yuva Morcha member, had traveled from Kadugodi, Bengaluru, to attend a court hearing related to a cheque bounce case at the Narasaraopet district court.

According to local authorities, the duo was kidnapped near a tiffin stall close to the court complex by unknown assailants. Hours later, their bodies were discovered in the neighbouring Bapatla district near Santhamaguluru, with their throats slit—indicating a brutal, intentional killing.

Prashanth’s political association and the manner of the crime suggest a carefully orchestrated plan, though the exact motive remains unclear. Police believe the attack was not spontaneous but carried out with precision.

Law enforcement from both Palnadu and Bapatla districts have launched a coordinated investigation. Efforts are underway to identify the perpetrators and locate the vehicle used in the abduction.

The murders have shocked political circles and raised concerns over safety for those involved in legal and political affairs across state lines.

Investigators are also probing possible political or personal enmity that could have led to the crime. Updates are awaited as the case unfolds.
