Bengaluru Rural: Family tragedy shocks Gonakanahalli village
A heart-breaking incident unfolded in Gonakanahalli village of Hoskote taluk, Bengaluru Rural district, on Friday when a man and his two children were found dead inside their home. The victims have been identified as Shivu, his daughter Chandrakala (11) and son Uday Surya (7).
Shivu’s wife, Manjula, survived and has been taken into custody for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
Financial strain and family distress
Preliminary police findings suggest that persistent financial difficulties and marital tensions may have contributed to the tragedy. Shivu, who had been confined to home following an accident, was reportedly struggling with both health and financial burdens.
According to officials, these circumstances appear to have caused severe emotional strain within the household.
Sequence of events
Police sources indicated that despair over mounting financial problems led the couple to consider extreme steps. Investigators believe alcohol consumption preceded the incident.
Manjula later sought help from a neighbour after she was unable to reach her father. The neighbour alerted residents and local authorities, who rushed to the spot.
Police investigation underway
Law enforcement officers from Hoskote police station have registered a case and are examining all possible angles, including financial stress, family dynamics, and the role of external factors.
Officials stated that statements are being recorded from neighbours and relatives to build a clearer picture of the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
Community in shock
The incident has left the residents of Gonakanahalli village shaken. Locals have expressed grief over the loss of two young children and concern about the wider issue of financial distress impacting families.
