Four held for operating hookah bar

Bengaluru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths arrested four people for operating a hookah bar illegally. The police have identified the accused as Manaskumar Sahu (30) from Odisha, Rajib Chetry (23) from Assam, Passang Tamang (35) from West Bengal and Ayaz Miya (19) from North Tripura.

The police have seized equipment used for operating hookah bar. The police said the accused used to allow minors to visit the premises. The police found, during the interrogation, the organizers used to encourage college students and youth to visit the hookah bar. The police found four customers patronizing the hookah bar and the police have informed their parents about it.

A case is registered against the accused under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and Section 102 of Karnataka Police Act (Penalty for permitting disorderly conduct at places of public amusements) and Section 4 and 21 of COPTA Act (prohibiting smoking at public places).
