German Parliamentary delegation interacts with students, faculty of SJCC

Bengaluru: The Bavarian-Indian Centre for Business and University Collaboration- BAYIND, organized an interactive session between the students and faculty of St. Joseph’s College of Commerce (Autonomous) and a parliamentary delegation from Bavaria consisting of Barbara Stamm, President, Legislative Assembly of Bavaria, Prof. Ursula Männle, Chairwoman, Hanns Seidel Foundation, Klaus Steiner, Member of Legislative Assembly of Bavaria, Speaker for Development Policy, CSU party, Legislative Assembly of Bavaria, Stefan Burkhardt, Head of Division South and South-East Asia, Hanns Seidel Foundation and Volker Plän, Resident Representative – Hanns Seidel Foundation.

Jose Jacob, Senior Advisor – BAYIND, addressed the gathering and introduced the theme of “Youth Leadership in Building Society” and moderated the interaction between the delegation and the students of St. Joseph’s College of Commerce (Autonomous).

Steiner gave a brief introduction of German history and parliamentary structure and system.

The delegates stressed the need for youth involvement in policy and decision-making. The students of SJCC were enlightened on how youth politics works in Germany and the different initiatives that Parliament takes to hear the concerns of the youth. The delegates spoke about the collaboration of different German parties with political foundations that receive funding to implement various social schemes and programmes. During the interactive session, the students questioned the delegates on different models and systems prevailing in the German Legislation that could be applicable to the Indian system.

The importance of the German history in formulating various policies was also discussed and Prof. Männle stressed the importance of political education and voluntary participation from the youth in political issues as imperative to the development of society. Jose Jacob ended the session by talking about how the world is round and the good and selfless deeds that are done for others will always come back and benefit the giver and also society as a whole.
