Bengaluru: The government has decided to provide all the girl children studying in high schools with two sets of salwar-kameez sets with dupatta from the next academic year.
The Chief Minister has asked the state education ministry to call tenders and finalise deals to provide text books, uniforms and shoes at the beginning of the year for all school children.
Disclosing the details to media, state secondary education Minister Tanveer Sait in the presence of Law minister T B Jayachandra and primary education secretary Ajay Seth said that around 6 lakh school going children will benefit from the scheme and the new uniform will ease cycle riding and provide adequate protection to girl children. At present the girls studying in government schools wear skirt and shirt as uniform.
