Bangalore: A notable development has occurred within the Karnataka police force as Senior IPS officer Pratap Reddy has submitted a request for voluntary retirement to the government. Currently serving as the Director General of Police (DGP) for Karnataka’s internal security department, Pratap Reddy was only two months away from his scheduled retirement in May. However, he has opted for early retirement citing personal reasons.
This decision has sparked interest and speculation within state police circles. Pratap Reddy has formally asked the government to release him from duty on April 30th. Born on January 1st, 1964, in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, Pratap Reddy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Technology (B.Tech). He commenced his illustrious career as an IPS officer of the Karnataka cadre in 1991.
Pratap Reddy’s professional journey includes serving as an assistant superintendent in Hassan district, Karnataka. Throughout his tenure, he has held pivotal roles such as Superintendent of Police (SP) and heading the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in north Karnataka, where he has successfully resolved numerous significant cases
